May 9, 2017 · I have no doubt that Dan Wesson makes a fine line of 1911's. But I do not believe there is any way to compare it to a Wilson Combat. More than 17 years ago I purchased a Wilson CQB, 45ACP, full size, twelve Wilson mags and a lined kidex Wilson holster. All for $1485.
The Wilson Combat is a nice pistol but the Ed Brown is my grail gun. I go on there site and build the Kobra Carry and it comes out about the same . $2900. I haven’t bought a pistol in a couple of years so I’m due. 3 months for a custom Ed Brown. I’m thinking of selling my 226 X5 Allround.The Wilson’s are a bit more money and they feel a little more polished - like fancier and well broken in smoothness. The Baer is tight and needs to be broken in and feels more no nonsense and less options. With Dan Wesson and up you get tool steel small parts rather than MIM (Ruger, Kimber, Colt). I bought those 1911's a few years ago, price wise Brown was about $600 higher than stainless Valor, Baer in-between the two.
