If I’m not mistaken, the book you are given has the name of the NPC you are supposed to talk to in one of the pages to get the quest to get the purified Kor-Gem. You don’t have to run BFD but you can get it in there. You can just farm the nagas that are in the cave entrance to get to BFD. It dropped pretty quickly once I got the quest.
