His ability to dish out insane amounts of damage and endlessly heal with the right gear. Makes him perfect for doing enough damage to solo the game and enough survivability to do so.

Imo, borderlands 2 is much more defense focused until you acquire awesome guns and even then, enemies can still down you with one rocket or some quick bullets to the dome. Sand Hawk is rather impracical without Bee which boosts its DPS by an order of magnitude at least. Bonus Package won't help you much with this build.
